About
Hope Caitlin, is a 23 year old writer, photographer and digital artist, working thorough years of chronic illness to forge her own path through creativity and expression.
Developing a chronic condition at 11 years old while the story of illness may have changed the course of her life, defining it is in her own hands. The last ten years have been spent creating visual art to represent a stunning insight into the life of a teenage girl, whose existence was full of, “longing, gratitude and the grief of girlhood”. Now over a decade long struggle meticulously documented on scraps of paper, iPhone notes and visual art pieces, her work shows what life can be made from the ashes of expectation.
Funded by Arts Council England, at 21 she launched her debut poetry novel, a labour of love, crafted from tears and fire, it is a piece of work that speaks to the soul and offers a glimpse into another world, one we can learn from.
‘Hope is the perfect poet for the moment because she represents a demographic that is being screwed in our country right now (young, female, disabled) and yet has the life experience to teach most of us how to get a grip and deal with long term isolation and restriction through her insightful, wistful and imaginative writing. Her willing vulnerability will show any reader a mirror to their own and gently guide them through it.’
